James R. Tate

james-tate.jpegJim Tate grew up on a small farm near Atlanta, Georgia. He has degrees in chemical engineering from Georgia Tech and law from George Washington University; and served with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. Jim has served as a Federal Prosecutor and was twice elected to the Virginia House of Delegates. In 1976 he won the Republican nomination to represent Virginia’s Eighth District in the United States Congress. After failing to win the general election, Jim began an investigation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Since their baptism in 1978, Jim and Sharon have been active members; and their Church activity has included service in the South from 2007 to 2010, when Jim served as President of the Alabama Birmingham Mission. Lessons learned during Jim and Sharon’s three years of full-time missionary service in Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi provided much of the source material for Proof.

Jim has been a trial lawyer for over fifty years and has tried major civil and criminal cases in courts across the United States. His first book, I Am Charged With A Crime, co-authored with another attorney, was published in 2015 and is also available on Amazon. Jim’s deep commitment to liberty and the potential of man is reflected in both books.
